Basingstoke, UK – January 17 2017 – Censornet, the complete cloud security company, today announces it will be exhibiting at BETT, the UK’s largest education technology event, on stand G300 from 25th to 27th January 2017. During the event, Censornet advisor Dr Brian Bandey, one of the leading experts on Information Technology Law, will be discussing how Anti-Radicalisation and Terrorism obligations affect e-Safety in Education as part of his series ‘Keeping Children e-Safe in Education – A Law-Based Resource for the Department of Education Statutory Guidelines’.
The latest Statutory Guidance on “Keeping Children Safe in Education” came into force in September 2016 and addresses the requirement for educational establishments to have due regard to prevent children from being drawn into terrorism. Schools must implement measures to control that children are safe from terrorist and extremist material when accessing the Internet in school.
The guidelines are a complex labyrinth of legal obligations and many schools aren’t equipped with the legal tools to decipher their precise legal requirements, yet they need to be understood if teachers are to effectively exercise the e-Safeguarding functions. This guide aims to explain the obligations and make it clear how they fit into a school’s wider e-safeguarding policies.
Censornet enables educational establishments to provide safe Internet access for all students and staff and provides the means to regulate and protect internet activity and the use of cloud applications across all devices through its Unified Security Service. Censornet’s suite of services offer schools the tools needed to protect students and staff and to stay compliant, at the same time as allowing them to use email and the web in a safe way.
Dr Bandey will be available to meet with educators at the Censornet stand from 10.30am – 3pm on 25th and 26thJanuary.
